IUPAC RULES

 This is off two steps
a) How to give the numbering
b) How to write the name
1.Loggest chain rule:
consider longest continuous chain
2.If main chain contains
a) one substituent then lowest number comes for substitutes
b) chain contains two/more substituents then the total number of position of substituents
3.If chain contains functional group, double bond, triple bond, substituent then the numbering is given by following order
functional group>double bond>triple bond>substituent
4.If chain contains tow/more functional groups then given priority according to the table
1.The name of substituent write before the name of main chain along with its position and a small hyphen (-) is inserted between the position and name of substituent
2.If compounds having two/more different substituent then thouse are arranges in alphabetic order(a,b,c,d,........z)
3.If compound having identical substituents at same position then the position should be repeated along with their prefix for (2,3,4,.......) by using (di,tri,tetra,................)

position-number(di,tri,tetra............)+substituent(in alphabetic)+rootword(no of carbons)+ene/yne/functional group+sufixa
